The Five Aggregates and Not-Self in Buddhism

Each of us has a feeling of personal identity and continuous self that seems real and permanent. We experience life as individuals. essentially separate from one another. And we are convinced we have thoughts, feelings and ideas, all of which are "ours." And yet, the Buddha taught that no-self is the mark of every human existence. Why?  Where does this sense of self come from and how come "I" feel so real?

This 4-week class will study the five aggregates (skandhas) and how they relate to the Buddha's teaching on the concept of not-self (anatta). The dharma says that one we realize the truth of anatta, letting go of the attachments that cause suffering begins to arise naturally.
